Ayurveda आयुर्वेद /ˌäyərˈvādə/
![]() | Ayurveda, the "science of life, " is the traditional medicine- the natural healing system- of India and its cultural sphere. It is probably the oldest health care system in the world, with roots going back over 5000 years into the Vedic era. Not surprisingly, it is called the "Mother of All Healing". Ayurveda is one of the most comprehensive healing systems in the world, dealing integrally with body, mind and spirit. It is allied with the profound yogic view of life and consciousness. Given its antiquity, we could say that it is the original medical system of which the modern medical systems are either derivations or deviations. Ayurveda uses a "mind ~ body ~ spirit" approach in healing based on the individuals unique constitution (dosha). Ayurveda seeks to get to the root cause of disease and illness rather than just treating the symptoms. Ayurveda is strong on prevention and offers guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses. Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind and spirit. |
Abhyanga (Ayurvedic Hot Oil Massage)
Schedule your Abhyanga Massage HERE or call 206-322-9500
Traditionally, abhyanga massage is performed in the morning, to clarify the mind and stimulate the body for the day. Warmed and specially formulated oils are poured over the body. Sesame and coconut oils are commonly used, along with aromatherapy. The oil is allowed to soak in for several minutes before the massage therapist begins, using rhythmic, gentle strokes with the whole palm.
By request*, two massage therapists may work on the same client. Abhyanga massage differs from many Western massage techniques in that it is not deep. It is meant to nourish the body with touch and rich oil, and while it certainly promotes healthy circulation and and joints, it does not deeply penetrate the soft tissues of the body. Abhyanga massage may also be paired with Shirodhara, an Ayurvedic Treatment which involves pouring warm oil onto the forehead.
An abhyanga massage can last up to an hour. After the massage is over, the client is encouraged to receive a hot towel hydrotherapy treatment to encourage absorption of the oil. A regular routine of abhyanga massage can be very beneficial for the skin. For people who cannot manage a daily massage, practitioners of Ayurveda recommend that people oil their feet, hands, and heads daily with an oil formulated for their dosha.
*Abhyanga received by two therapists is by request and will be at an additional fee.

Champi Head Massage (30 min $45)
Champi is the original Ayurvedic art of Indian head massage. It is a massage treatment focused on the upper back and arms, the shoulders, head, neck and face. Champi is performed while seated comfortably upright in a chair. Its focus on the body areas where stress and tension commonly gather is why champi has become so popular.
This is the perfect treatment to release some of the aches and pains in the shoulders, head and neck. The massage focuses on all the areas that classically collect tension in the upper body. It is great for everyone from desk workers to busy moms! Champi is amazingly soothing and nurturing, yet totally invigorating, starting with the back and finishing with a nurturing face massage.
The brain is the seat of the nervous system and by massaging the head and neck you are in fact treating the whole body, as the nerves, blood and lymph vessels leave from the base of the neck and travel down the spine to the rest of the body.
Champi originated in India more than one thousand years ago and was used as a technique for grooming by women as it helped to strengthen and improve the fullness of the hair. This was achieved by stimulating the pressure points on the scalp and became part of everyday life that was practiced on young and old alike. It became a tradition that was handed down through the generations from mother to daughter.
Indian Head Massage is a seated treatment where clients are fully clothed. Deep relaxing moves are employed on the back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and if required, the face leaving you feeling serene, tranquil and refreshed.
Chakra Balancing Massage (60 min $75)
The Chakra Balancing Massage is an innovative treatment focusing on the seven chakra energy centers of the body using a variety of massage techniques. The treatment features the Bhu Tea Chakra Balancing Blends, with massage on specific points on the back and spinal muscles, chakra reflexology massage on the feet, and energy work for the chakras. In addition, a guided meditation will enhance the benefits of stress relief, decreased muscular tension and increased energy.
Your session will likely include a mixture of breath exercises, meditation and movement therapy.
The easiest way to understand chakras is to equate each one to a life
energy within the human body. Each of your chakras governs a specific
function within your body, along with specific emotional issues
associated with it. Take for example the solar plexus chakra, which
affects digestion. If a blockage occurs in the solar plexus chakra, due
to stress, other emotional issues or poor diet, the chakra can become
blocked and it can cause gas, indigestion, constipation and all sorts of
uncomfortable digestive issues. Mentally, the solar plexus chakra
governs self-love and self-esteem, and is therefore involved with
problems of indecisiveness, sensitivity to criticism and fear of
rejection.
(Practioner's in this Video are not who will be providing your treatment.)
Description:
Your treatment will begin with a warm herbal oil massage to your scalp, face, neck, hands and feet. Then, a thin, gentle stream of warm herbal oil is applied to “the third eye” to quiet your mind and soothe your senses. The nourishing, conditioning oil is then massaged into your hair and scalp and enhanced with Ayurvedic herbs. It is this steady, rhythmic pouring of oil that induces a deeply relaxing and blissful state of consciousness called ‘Turiya’ ~ the state of awareness that is neither fully conscious nor deep sleep. While in this Turiya state, we are able to witness and/or release impressions in our conscious and subconscious mind.
You will emerge from your Shirodhara Bliss Therapy feeling so refreshed, as if you have just completed a long, deep and blissful meditation.

Our Natural State
![]()
According to Ayurveda, our natural state
is one of health, happiness and an inner sense of well-being.
Health is defined as the body being clear of toxins, the mind
is at peace, emotions are calm and happy, wastes are efficiently
eliminated and organs are functioning normally. In a busy,
stressful and toxic world, our physical and mental systems
accumulate toxins causing deterioration in bodily functioning.
This eventually weakens our systems, which opens the door
for chronic, degenerative, and non-specific diseases to develop.
These can evolve into serious specific diseases, ultimately
damaging an individual’s health and wellness.
Panchakarma can help by reversing these negative effects of daily living. It can restore your natural state of health and wellness by cleansing your body of toxins, bringing balance into your system and improving bodily function. It can also help you sustain this process by making positive changes in lifestyle.
The Panchakarma therapeutic process appears quite simple in its application. However, its effects are powerful and effective. Panchakarma is a unique, natural, holistic, health-giving series of therapeutic treatments that cleanse the body’s deep tissues of toxins, open the subtle channels, bring life-enhancing energy thereby increasing vitality, inner peace, confidence and well-being.
Our Panchakarma Program
